FACTORIAL 2021
FACTORIAL is an artistic study of the mathematical rules of the influence of one value on a system.
By exploring the factorials in my project, I visually show how changing one part of the system can change the system as a whole. The change in the system, whether visual or any other, occurs through the interaction of the ironer with the element (interactively). Each of the paper sculptures has n parts. Each part is different, both in terms of its visual component and size. Therefore, by changing one of the elements, we see how the sculpture changes completely, and depending on the size (leverage) of the element, the system changes proportionally.
The visual system and its changes can be considered by the factorial formula:
n!=1*2*(n-1)*n,
where n is the number of elements in each individual paper interactive sculpture.
Thus, if there are 6 parts (elements) in a paper sculpture, it means that the system has 720 variants of change (because 6!=1*2*3*4*5*6=720), and the larger the lever (size) of each part, the more the system will change.
Factorials are a visual exploration of the impact we have on society, the change in the number of bees in an ecosystem, changes in a political system, and any system that exists in nature in a general sense.
